Overview

On-Premise Floating Licenses

On-premise floating licenses are used to activate a dedicated license server, provided by Cryptlex, within your customer’s local network. This server, called LexFloatServer, governs all licensing operations locally, making it well-suited for restricted environments such as air-gapped or offline networks.

Client applications, referred to as LexFloatClient(s), connect directly to the LexFloatServer over the local network to request and lease licenses. This ensures that licensing continues to function seamlessly without requiring any external internet connectivity. When authorized users wish to run the app, they request a seat from the LexfloatServer license server within the local network.

How your app obtains a floating License

To obtain a floating license from an on-LexFloatServer, your app uses the LexFloatClient library. Each time the app requests a floating license, LexFloatServer checks out a license and reduces the pool of available licenses. If all licenses are in use, any additional user must wait until an active user releases their license or their lease expires.
