Users

In Cryptlex, a user represents your end customer. A user can be as simple as a contact (a name and email) linked to a license, or the actual licensee, as in the named user licensing model, where the license is tied to the user's identity.

To link a single license to multiple users, use an organization instead. The organization admin can then delegate that license to its users.

Creating a user is not required for standard licensing workflows, but it is required for access to the customer portal. A user linked to one or more licenses can independently view their licenses and related details, download published releases, view activations, perform deactivations, and complete offline activations. This self-service reduces your support workload.

User roles

A user's role determines what they can do in the customer portal and how they relate to your other customers.

  • User (user) is your end customer. They can view their licenses, activations, and releases for the products they are licensed for.
  • Organization admin (organization-admin) manages an organization. They can set up user profiles, form user groups, and allocate the organization's licenses to its members.
  • Reseller admin (reseller-admin) manages a reseller account. They can view and manage all licenses, users, and organizations under their reseller account, and assign licenses as needed.

Creating a user

  1. Go to the Customers -> Users page in the admin portal and click Create.
  2. Provide the required details, including First Name, Last Name, Email, Password, and Role.

Linking a user to a license

  1. Go to the Licenses page in the admin portal.
  2. Click Create to create a new license, or edit an existing license.
  3. Open the Customer tab and link the user.

Tracking user activity

A user carries two separate activity timestamps: lastSeenAt for application usage and lastLoginAt for customer portal logins. See Activity Timestamps for what updates each one.
